Is Entromancy a 5E game?

The core ruleset in Entromancy is based on the 5th Edition rules of the world’s most popular roleplaying game. We’ve streamlined some of the traditional systems that you’d find in a 5E or d20-based game, while building out others to suit the needs of a cyberpunk setting and place the emphasis on engaging action and meaningful storytelling. So if you’re familiar with 5th Edition, you’ll be instantly familiar with how the core mechanic works, but you’ll also notice how the gameplay, character progression, and other systems differ from other d20 games.

Remind me how many classes are in the game? And do you have prestige classes?

There are five base classes in Entromancy, and each have two archetypes to choose from. Once your character has completed five or more missions - and provided that they meet the requirements - they get to start training in one of Entromancy’s five destinies, which are our versions of prestige classes. You can check out the “Class Descriptions and Sample Content” section of the main Kickstarter page for descriptions of each of the classes and destinies.

What comes with the game?

Both the PDF and hardcover contain the Entromancy: A Cyberpunk Fantasy RPG core rulebook, which is everything you need to start playing. The rulebook is divided into 10 chapters, which include world and NPC descriptions, character creation and progression, classes, destinies, skills, combat and magic rules, equipment, factions, GM tools, and monsters.

Due to the success of our stretch goals, we’ll also be adding things like more monsters and the first mission. Additionally, we have a separate stretch goal which, once unlocked, will allow us to include alternate rules for card-based hacking.

How does hacking work in Entromancy?

In the current version of the game, hacking works in much the same way as other skills, such as athletics, negotiation, and stealth. We already have a full system built for hacking, based on things like device accessibility, range, security grade, and counter-hacking…but we’re aiming to up the ante with one of our stretch goals.

We have a card-based, collaborative hacking minigame in the works that serves as an alternate system for you to use during your cyber exploits. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it’s playable in under a minute at the game table. It adds a strategic dimension to hacking that incorporates card-based gameplay, and allows for participation by all hackers at the table.

With our stretch goal, we’ll include the alternate minigame rules with a PDF of full color, printable cards to be used with plastic card sleeves.

Did you say...factions?

Yes! There are three factions in the game: NIGHT, Aurichome, and the Unaligned.

The faction of NIGHT – the National Intelligence Guard of Human Technology – is a paramilitary force that has been developed to facilitate relations between humans and the underraces, sometimes with extreme measures. Its opposing faction, Aurichome, is a sovereign nation united under the banner of King Thog’run II, who himself coined a more empowering moniker for the underraces, “aurics.” Completing the triangle of factions are the Unaligned, whose objectives are their own.

Entromancy has a full faction system where your character’s choices can enhance or undermine your relationship with one or all of the factions. In turn, your faction standing will govern your access to things like faction-specific equipment, advanced cybernetics, faction perks, and some destinies.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
